They described us as evil people with tails and horns
Who shouldn't even have the right to be born
Gave us a separate set of laws
Discriminated on things they saw as flaws
Your nose is too big, your hair is too dark
Even in newspapers we saw cruel remarks
Treated unfair, differently from the rest
You got killed if you tried to protest
Many died or were separated from their loved ones
Everywhere you looked these Nazis were there with guns
These people led by Hitler would not quit
People tried to hide, and lie, being Jewish they did not want to admit
Scared of the consequences and death, was the purpose of lies
Blonde hair and blue eyes was the only disguise
But when they knocked on my door and asked if I was a Jew
My reply was “Yes” and I was proud of it too
I was scared of course, but never ashamed
For all the problems in the world, we Jews were blamed
There was pain, torture, sadness, and death
But I never denied who I was, I stayed strong till my very last breath
I was proud to be Jewish and nothing could change that fact
I followed the laws, wore my yellow star, and when told, my suitcases I packed
I was driven off in a cattle car, to where I know not
But with those Nazis, I never fought
I ended up in a concentration camp, outside of town
Everywhere I looked there were Jews and Nazis around
Treated so badly I cannot even explain
But not one thought of regret entered my brain
I was forced to dig a big hole in the ground, with many others
Moms, dads, sisters, and brothers
All in tears of the upcoming event
But I was proud of what I represent
Pulling the trigger, one after another fell into that hole
Then up came my turn, last of the whole
The soldier first asked me a question, saying “What are you?”
I smiled proudly and said “I am a Jew!”
