It's Not Okay
It's not okay.
And you'll never hear me say,
"It's alright to make a mistake."
Everything needs to be perfect.
It's not okay to think that
It's normal. Don't worry.
Mistakes happen.
Just remember
Whether you're stressed or upset
doesn't matter.
You should be perfect.
The idea that,
Mistakes are natural and a part of life
Is a warning sign for disaster
Excellence is all that matters
To think that
Taking a break to simple breathe is an option
Failure is bound to happen.
I'll tell you now,
To read this poem from bottom to top.

I hope that by writing this poem, teens will be able to relate and recognize how unhealthy the idea of perfection can be. Although it can be beneficial to push yourself to do better, it's so important to simple remember that breaks are optional and extrememly beneficial.
