The Beast Smashed My Nest

Been away in the clouds for a while
awaiting an energetic smile.
The shock I received
with reality perceived.
Tried my best
to make a home, my nest.
Nests fall apart fast
under an economic blast.
Didn't this happen before
It was hard to ignore.
Didn't anyone learn?
We don't have cash to burn.
Now stuck fighting the monster with no face.
We point to the leaders, a bank, or some stock ace
Can't you see we're to blame
Or can you not handle the shame.
Stuck in this hole
An individual, a nation whole.
