A River Poem

April 23, 2017

Across a blank landscape,
left untouched by all (except for one),
a river began flowing,
directions it had all (except for none).
It streaked the perfect scenery,
branching out and rushing waves,
yet not one knew where the waves would go,
how they would flow and how behave;
so on and on the river rushed –
it seemed so large and strong;
yet no one knew the river poem
could never last for long.

The author's comments:

This poem is intended to demonstrate the writing process in its many aspects, whether it be ink flowing from the pen, or thoughts streaming onto a page. Following this thought, the poem does not have a specific rhyme or meter, and is therefore a combination of free verse and rhyme.
