Meadow Nights

March 17, 2009
By Anonymous

The frolicking of field mice
And joyful lilies in bloom
Rise from the remains of ice
And sing under the moon

The wind holds cricket songs
The streams, the starry night
They nullify the wrongs
And crystallize the rights

The toad croak in the darkness
The bellow of the creature
Has left the night with one less,
One less terror to feature

While the workmen are in bed
And the babies in their crib
The meadow's nights ahead
Are vast and free to live.
