The Rising
I saw the moon rise up to never set
My soul tranquil; ‘er sought an idol orb.
Remained so still, acute for eyes to see,
Placed within a lonely land’s sky. In chains.
Among the heaven’s celestial brilliance,
Dared to leave. Twilight’s radiance blazed on.
The hue that seeped into granite peaks
Shall shine n’er again; only the evening’s
Luster o’er towering pines shall glisten.
Vibrant memories of eternal night.
Excitement in my face as morning came.
The sun hath rose; thought n’er to show again.
A whispered dream. “What color hath brightened our darkest souls.”
This color shall leave my soul nevermore.
