Where I'm From MAG
I’m from pollution and skyscrapers
And islands and immaculate beaches
I’m from fresh grouper and lobster
And day-old sushi from Carulla
I’m from breaking boards with my head
And Cuban breakfast with my Abu
I’m from El Tesoro de la Juventud
And an old red and blue mat
Dotted with the sweat of a sparring match
I’m from “Ay por Dios, Manolin!”
And Muhammad Ali
And Marc Anthony and Celia Cruz
I’m from Master Joe and Mr. Andy
And congested streets
Between no stoplights and enough stoplights
To light up the sky at midnight

This is a very personal poem to me because it includes a lot of important people and things in my life. From being Cuban/Colombian-American to practicing Taekwon-Do, I really hope the reader can relate to my life.
