Watching Football
If he would catch the ball right now,
My day won’t go to waste.
My father's face will shine with glee
And we’ll leave in a haste.
I don’t know where we’ll go today
I hope it’s to the park.
But if the player fumbles now
We might not leave till dark.
We’ll sit here as he slowly gets
Out of his big green chair.
In silence we will eat our lunch
And he will sit and stare.
And so I tensely watch the game
Not watching as a fan
But knowing the fate of my day
Depends on this one man.
