Dear Expectations,
You called and I answered.
You called me friend and I was happy.
You called me back when I strayed away,
Little did I know, you only did that to deceive me.
We should’ve shared our ambitions
But you turned them into competition
Without consideration of our feelings
Instead you always chose for us to come to a decision
I was Eve and you the serpent,
Your tempting words kept me at bay
So I don’t sway away.
You wanted me to conform
But it only taught me to obey
Now I ask,
How many more lives before you walk away?
