I knew that I would fail.
It was the ever knowing
that I would never reach the end
of the darkness
that slowed me,
endlessly.
I always tired before
the twisted
of mind and body fell.
My heart being teased
into ditches that never seamed to shrink,
but grow
into a whole world of
mistakes and regret.

I wrote this poem based on feelings of giving up and how failure always weighs a person down. This is actually not the title I intended, and "real" title is Meager Lives, which seems more appropriate. Thanks for reading!
