Here lies the blossom

In its place a green leaf

The blossom is stolen away as if by a thief

The fall from the tree a long way down

The wind helps with a large push towards the ground

When the last blossom is blown away

We will realize the green is here to stay

Or so we thought

R.I.P. Blossom

The author's comments:

This is an epitaph that I wrote for a poetry project last year. The poem was inspired by the cherry blossom tree in my front yard and the regression of losing its' beautiful blossoms and turning green. The sobering process showed me that not everything lasts forever. The epitaph personifies the blossoms on the tree as a person who is dying.
