until brown eyes on
vacant afternoons
became a
pastime
until worn leather was
a paradise lost;
sunlight searched skin
like adam deplored the
loss of
eve
upon her entrance
made from in him
taken from him
love divine divided;
two hands slip
til fingertips part
the absence of you
is the absence
of warmth
of sunlight
the absence of you
is the absence of me
