What Had Happened Was
What had happened was,
She wasn’t comfortable in her own skin.
All she wanted to do was embrace what was within
But with all the judging and all the hate, she kept it fastened in.
What had happened was,
She hid from the truth
She hid from the pain
Nothing to lose, nothing to gain.
What had happened was,
They still spoke after she was astray
Only her companion begged her to stay.
Would this babble ever rip away?
What had happened was,
Her breaths taken on earth didn’t go to waste
More girls easily took her place.
But instead of ending the way she did,
They embraced what was within.
