Souls About to Break
She drops onto the ground.
Looks up at the neverending sky.
Wishing to be free from her chains,
She hangs her head and cries.
She's tethered down to the Earth,
Her soul tied down and cages.
There is nothing here of worth,
So she might as well decay.
She wants to be a spirit,
But she'll settle with a ghost.
She sees it and she hears it
As it comes and pulls her forth.
She leaves no messages and notes,
As she's taken from her body
And into the air she floats.

This piece of poetry was inspired by all of societal norms for teenagers and how they should look and act. There comes a point when everyone judging every small aspect of you and comparing you to others comes to be too much. I hope to emulate the feeling of wanting to be carefree and non-judged through this poem.
