One day struck all Americans,
In the year of 2001.
The day in which the towers collapsed,
The day we stood opposite the gun.

When 11 year old Tommy saw this,
He knew what he wanted to do.
He wanted to join the armed forces,
To protect people like me and you.

7 years later, the day finally came,
He joined the army's strong.
He couldn't wait to defend his land,
But defend he wouldn't do long.

On patrol in Baghdad,
Tommy heard a cry.
A little boy with a bomb,
Screaming 'YOU'RE ABOUT TO DIE!'

Tommy shooed his squad away,
And ran toward the boy.
The bomb stopped ticking,
And Tommy was the decoy.

Tommy's squad couldn't help but watch,
As the bomb exploded a few feet away.
They all got down on one knee,
They lost an American hero that day.

Tommy's remains were sent back home,
In respect to his family and friends.
But when he arrived back home,
The tears would just never end.

Tommy's parents cried eternally,
Burying their son at age 18.
They bought their marker and their spot,
By old relatives, buried in between.

Red, white and blue were common colors,
On the fateful day of rest,
One flag covered his casket,
They wanted to give Tommy the best.

The other flag was given to his mom,
Who accepted it in teary eyes,
The pastor said his final words,
And everyone said their final goodbyes.

There goes another brave soul,
Dead from this pointless war.
Maybe it will all come to an end,
Now that George Bush has walked out the door.
