Mercy For A Veteran

Bruised and battered
On a concrete wasteland
Drivers fly by
Their hearts tells them to help, but their life says otherwise.

Standing, hoping, praying
Wondering if there is any love in the world any more
Does no one feel for this battle-torn war veteran?

Hopes die
Pink and orange sherbet skies start to fade
One more heavy day
Starts to say good night.

A sliver of love starts upon the horizon
A chariot of hope creeps to a gracias halt
A hand filled of love and compassion extends to give
The veteran thanks him for the green gold.

Bruised, battered, and loved he makes his way home.
