Shower Thoughts

My mind is racing with every dripping beat
Letting the water race down to my feet
My mind beings to wonder
To a time when I was younger
From the loss of my first best friend
And a heartbreak that felt like it would never end
As I reach out for my shampoo
I begin to think of all the things I ever wanted to do
Like when I was younger I wanted to be a vet
But as I grew older I dreamed of having an elephant for a pet
As I kept thinking and the shampoo bubbles rushed to my feet
I began to think of my earlier grief
As the tears begin to reach the brim of my eyes
I realise I can not seem him again until it is my time to die
My shaky hand reaching out for the conditioner
My shower now feeling like a sprinkler
Solitary and scilence finally win over the end of my shower
For all my thoughts have drained me of my power

I wrote it for a school assignment. I was in the shower the night before my series of poems were due. I then started to think about how people always think in the shower and shower thoughts came to me.
