If I Were In Charge Of The World (or maybe just high school)

If I were in charge of high school
Weekends would be longer
Homework would be shorter
And no one would be denied a second chance

If I were in charge of high school
There'd be no popular kids table
Because everyone would be well-liked
P.E. class would be an hour and twenty-five minutes shorter
And the hallways would be a safe place for everyone

If I were in charge of high school
Integrity would be exemplified instead of discussed
Hard work could pay off for anyone
And even the not-so-drop-dead-gorgeous girls would get asked to dances

If I were in charge of high school
No one would be mean because everyone would feel welcome
People would want to include instead of exclude
And sitting next to the kid by himself
Would bring as much joy to you as it brought to him

The world would be a better place if I were in charge of high school

In fifth grade we wrote "If I Were in Charge of the World" poems, and I was reading mine and thinking that maybe the world is a little bit big to change, but the little things we do can add up, especially in High School
