The First Snowfall

I am wide-awake
By the silence of the first snowflakes
My teeth chatter loud
As the frost peers through my windows
My bitter cold feet
Walks towards the silence of the streets
I look among the beauty
Of the first snowfall
In the stillness of the night
With no one in sight
If you listen close
You can hear the snowfall glisten
The first snowfall is
Like life, where you step, leaves a mark
