I left the lodge, stepping out into the snow
The drop in temperature leaves a stinging sensation on my face
Next thing I know,
I’m at the top of the ski hill
Feeling anxious
As I look down the slope
It seems like the white snow engulfs the land
Making the terrain unreadable.

I ready myself,
I bend my knees, knowing what I am about to do
The anticipation builds, as I think about the task ahead

I push off,
Powder sprays in my eyes,
I speed down the hill
The small faces get larger the closer I get to the bottom

Friends cheer from the bottom
I begin to realize what I just did
I am proud of myself, as well as grateful to my friends for teaching me
I think I will come back again next thursday.

I was inspired to write this piece by my friend, who was afraid of going skiing with me, and didn't believe me when I said that ignoring fear would help alot
