The Scarlet Letter

March 5, 2009

Redder than a dieing sun,
Hotter than the brightest fire,
Ssss' then the stench of burning flesh,
The scarlet letter is forever placed.
Branded like cattle,
Marked with shame and sin,
She, who wears the scarlet letter,
Is cast away from society,
'Ever to be mocked,
Her and kin alike.

i love the title, it immediately caught my attention because it's the name of a really famous book. I also like the poem itself, the opening line is great, you should make more :) vote for mine too please at TeenInk.com/raw/Poetry/article/92204/Unstable/
