Somberly.
Gone is yesterday,
and with it are you.
There's no one left
To help me through.
I'm waiting, somberly.
No more of my driveway tears.
That you withstood carefully, dreadfully.
And made me smile through.
For a while it worked.
But now you're out of reach.
A rock is thrown from my heart,
But miles from my arms.
I'm waiting, somberly.
I've heard them say that absence makes the heart grow fonder,
But surely, that doesn't make this any easier.
Dismal, and summed up in a single glance.
It was not a solitary farewell.
So I'll wait the months through.
For not until then will i see you.
Three years gone, with my nerves on end.
I'm waiting, somberly.
