My Beloved Son
My Beloved Son
What kind of father am I?
My son
My beloved son
I fought for you
I fought in the war
I defended you
I was there when you were born
I signed your birth certificate
Remember the good times
The tea party
Remember that
Remember when we got in the Olympics
We made friends with Canadians
Just remember the good times
And remember your father
In heaven I am
I watch over you
Through your struggles
And your struggles
And your triumphs
After all these years
I still watch over you
Smiling as you succeed
Until now
I still watch
But I no longer smile
I cry knowing I can't help you
In these trying times
Your in debt
And I see
Depression on the horizon
This war
It broke you
And now your dying
Don't give in
Fight for it
Remember the good times
They could come again
And so you my son
My beloved son
Remember your father
As your children remember you
As father freedom
And me as grandpa Washington
Now go America
Show the world
You can not die.
