I breathe my last breath,
I say my last words
I look out at the last things I'll ever see,
And I reflect.

My world ends and I say goodbye
To everything I've ever known,
And yet I don't take in everything I see, in my final moments,
But instead, remember everything I have taken in
I reflect.

The constant beeps of the heart monitor are quiet
Compared to my own heart beat
And the voices of the world are merely hums
As I reflect.

Reflecting on every moment,
Every feeling, and every regret.
Like a mathematical equation,
Averaging everything into one
One emotion, one moment,
And one regret.
All of this, I conclude, is one thing
My life.

In its entirety, our lives have one ending
We all avoid it, making excuses
Pretending we have more time
But as we do, do we really live?

One day, I will too lay quietly,
Awaiting my turn as the arms of death carry me
And I won't look back,
I won't resist or scream
Or try to escape
I will stop listening to the world
And close my eyes to all of the beautiful sights
As I reflect.

I really love the strong images in this poem; you did a great job with them. I especially love the first stanza, since I feel like it transitions into the body of the poem very smoothly. Awesome job with this, keep writing! :)
