What I Could Do
I sat here thinking about what I could do
to show that I love and appreciate you
I looked out the window and saw the tall trees
and their colorful, beautiful leaves
I thought about their job
and the air I could rob
That's what I could do
to show that I love and appreciate you
I sat here thinking about what I could do
to show that I really love you
I could take the sun from the day and the stars from the night
just to show you how you make my day bright;
but that's not a good comparison
There's not enouugh light
I could count very grain of sand
and create you your own piece of land;
but for that, I couldn't stand
I'd miss holding your hand
I sat here thinking about what I coud do
to show that I really love you
I decided to show you the real me
because that's all I can really be
I want to give you the sky and the sea,
but I hope you can settle for me

I wrote this while trying to figure out what to give my boyfriend for our anniversary. I wanted to give him things that reminded me of how special he and his qualities are to me. I quickly realized that I can't pull the sun or the stars to show him how bright he makes my day or that I couldn't rob the oxygen from the trees to give to just him. Needless to say, he settled for me... at the time; but that's another poem.xx Rose
