I Will Be Gone
The day soon comes,
When I will leave this all behind me.
I will have left only memories,
Of the years long past.
Will you miss me,
Or dance and rejoice?
Will you even know I am gone?
How shall you carry on?
Will I be a ghost in your memories,
Or will I be your pride and joy?
Will you cry when I walk away,
Or simply smile?
Do you not know-
How much you all mean to me?
You helped me heal.
You made me free!
I am grown now,
But I never will forget,
The ways you made me smile,
And the ways you made me fret.
I love you, Mother,
And love is such a rare thing.
Just know when you're alone,
You are what makes my heart sing.
