Blind Mistakes
What a bright light,
Shining within sight.
With empty darkness all around,
And a sharp sound with every bound.
You gaze through nothing but black,
And see that clear light from a crack.
Slowly creeping across the ground,
Yoi get to the light you have found.
You crawl to the light,
To escape the fright.
When creeping through the wall,
You come across something small.
As you come closer to this block,
Something happens that is a shock.
Attracted to what you may see,
May cause harm to you, and maybe me.
While going through this bright room,
You may have caused your own doom.
The crack in the room is not there,
And was a lure for despair.
Now trapped in this room,
It will soon be your tomb.
With comfort can come danger,
And possibly something stranger.
People themselves are mind-games,
Luring you with comforting claims.
Hearing what you want to hear,
And seeing what you want to see appear,
You will not see the big picture,
But only the simple fixture.

My teacher, Mrs. McFarlin emcouraged me to write more poetry over the summer and submit to this amazing article. I also just enjoy writing deeper, sometimes darker, pieces of writing (H.P. Lovecraft is one of my favorite poets.
