I walk down that path, the one I’ve always been pushed to, shoved to.
The one I didn’t really want go to.
But those things didn’t matter to you.
You walked there too, that’s why you wanted me to be just like you.
In everything that I do.
Reminding me that in everything that I do, I’m just like you.
    What If I didn’t want to be like you.
I just want to me but is that good enough for you.
I don’t want to disappoint you and leave you.
But I want to do what I want to do.
But it’s not what you want me to do.
You want me to be just like you.
And When I tried to be me.
Tried to be free.
You’d rip me, tear me into pieces, then mold me.
Into what you wanted me to be.
The day has come for me to walk down that path.
The one you wanted for me, not the one I wanted for me.
You pushed me, shoved me, I was close to the edge.
I have had enough and I finally fled.
I fled so I could be me.
The me that I’ve always wanted to be.
The one you didn’t want me to be.
I made a vow to myself and my future kids.
That whatever they did.
I’d let them be themselves and not try to make them like me.
