Food of the Rich

He bought me a ring
Silver, platinum
Whatever was in fashion
Since old days
It was set with ruby
Amethyst, pearl
Whatever’s in fashion
These days

I could care less
For fashion
But more for passion
Passion’s love’s nutrition

Apples
The forbidden fruit
Luscious
Sweating
Like breasts
Plump cherries
Like bath bubbles
Stuffed with blood
Nourish me
With fruits of your soul

Instead
He brought me the fruits
Of the earth

Which I could not ingest
For nutrition
No vitamins
But at least
They’re minerals
