I Remember The Last Time You Left
I remember the last time you left
 All the promises you made
Telling me when you came home
 Things would be okay
Talk, talk, talk of marrying her rolling off your tongue
 The baby needs a daddy
But the baby's daddy is gone
I'll never leave again you said
 You promised things would change
They did change' for a little while
But then it went back to the same'
Not that you're at all alone to blame
I know you really meant it all
Wanted a normal life, your family
 But blamed your internal conflict'
 Your 'sickness', your 'disease'
 -Slowly things got worse again,
The fighting to a point of no end
 So just have another drink
An attempt to wash it away
The next morning bringing that acid taste
Of things neither of you ever meant to say
 Hear her call the cops
 See your daughter's tears
 Feel so much hate inside
 Separation-again, your biggest fear
I remember the last time you left
Visiting- & how hard it was to walk away
 I want you to know,
 I know you never meant,
For any of this to happen
But it's still another extended stay.
