One More Breath

Dark, quiet, mysterious room
Tossing and turning
Endless gasping for air,
But none to be found.

Trapped below the surface
Bubbles rising freely to the top
How I envy them.
Sunshine glistening high above,
If only I could reach it.

My lungs start to compress
I can feel my heart beat slow
Sweat pours down my face
I am running out of air.

Waves crash this way and that
A strong force pulling me further from shore
Down, down I go, to the depths of the sea
Never to return.
