The teacher is a strict old man
With a pen jetting
Out of his mouth
Ruler in hand, with a pencil in his ear, he
Slaps,
Smacks,
Beats,
Whips
Against well worn desks
Teaching children to behave
His body squelches down
His sides sink in
His arms and legs retract
Articulate numbers lining the figure
With elaborate lines running down
Dwarfish and rectangular
Slapping,
Smacking,
Beating.
