Go Towards The Light
The soul-littered stairs I climb
Echo with whispers. Hear. All are free.
Go towards the light.
Even though the monster they tried to fight
Still creeps and crawls behind me
Up the soul-littered stairs I climb.
Walls block nothing at this height
For a dream has parted the sea.
Go towards the light.
Spirits embrace me. Sinews combine
And upon the slain life breathes
In the soul-littered stairs I climb.
Suddenly locked doors burst open wide
And I surrender to this reversed gravity
Go towards the light.

I really like the house-like imagery of the walls, doors, and stairs. The meaning of the poem is made very powerful with the souls and spirits as well as the monster (I'm assuming it represents oppression and racism). I think the rhythm works well too; it has a nice flow. Good job! :)
I wrote this poem to accompany a painting of did in art of a young black female ascending a flight of stairs made of the strong A.A women of past.
