A bright white light in my face as I wake for the day
A sound so still in my ear fades away
Muscles pull every which way.
The creaking of floorboards can be heard from afar
All these sad old planks can whistle to Mars
but their shiny coat gleams, just like the stars.
Tired and awake I can see my Aunt Antje at the table laughing
It reminded of the time we had fun white water rafting
Or when I saw her in a musical doing a little acting.
We are supposed to build a wall for the neighbors flowers
They'd pay us good for the hard work and the hours
Aunt Anjte is german so she just says Mauer.
Her English is not the best but that's not what keeps us together
We're family and that's what everybody should remember
Our friendship is smooth like a calm cool zephyr.
When the time comes and she passes my eyes will begin to sweat
I take into account all she's had and all she left
and I always remember family and never will forget.
