The Crutch You Lean On
When the crutch you lean on is taken away
And you’re left by yourself to find balance,
Will you have enough strength to face the day?
Some will be blue and paint their world gray.
Will you hide and live a life of bleak silence,
When the crutch you lean on is taken away?
Some will shut their eyes and turn another way.
Defeat will shadow their path of ignorance,
But will you have enough strength to face the day?
Memories of better days, some will replay.
Will you live in the now, with confidence
When the crutch you lean on is taken away?
For a new aid to hold on to, some will pray,
Will you be your own backbone and guidance?
Will you have enough strength to face the day?
Yet for some, independence will outweigh.
They will see their tight grip brought only a callus.
When the crutch you lean on is taken away,
Will you have enough strength to face the day?
