Best Friends Of Yesterday

You and I were best friends
but thats something of the past
And oh, the wonderful times we had,
but are friendship didn't last
I was the crazy one who said
'Dear friend, such friends we are,
Lets be the best friends forever
I will wish upon that star'
So I offered you my heart
the best part I could find
you put in yours to fill the place
were was the piece you offered I
And wish we did on that shining star
and best friends did we become
and all went well a year or two
but then that day had come
When something came between us
and pried us both apart
And then we left each other
and went back to the start
Now I am sure you've forgotten me
but I remember you
And when you're grown and you're a parent
you'll remember too.
So someday tell you children
of the good times we had
and also teach them the lessons we learned
when something went bad
Our memories are still in my heart
of when we used to play
To me you're still my best friend
my Best Friend of Yesterday
