The Phone Call

Ring, Ring
There goes my mom's phone
I wonder who it is
My mom picks it up
I could tell who it was
My sister
I gaze at my mom
I see tears in her eyes
I know what happened
The happiness I felt
The sorrow she felt
About this new little being growing
My mom says she's burning the tortillas
And has to go
A dumb excuse for we had already eaten
My sister didn't know
But let my mom go
I watch as she runs to her room
Holding back the tears
Over an unmarried couple
And a baby on the way
