The Voice from Afar
February 13, 2009
A downpour of alarming sound
shattering clinking silence resound
Hermes with an unknown message
that spoke in the voice of my memories' vestige
A call
I press my ear to the voice to hear
the sun's feeble first few flakes of light
and the gentle cooing farewell of night
A thousand leagues away but near
I answer
To a voice who speaks like a summer breeze
and laughs like an April shower
whispers to calm the savage seas
and the seed of my longing, the sower
To hear
A voice I hear when the day's bride approaches
and the twinkling sea of gods encroaches
the heavens above and reigns all when the
Moon shines bright till the dawn

John, this is absolutely amazing! Although, I must admit, I expected nothing less. You're poetry always leaves me wallowing in a distant world...full of description beyond reality that so competently illustrates the day to day themes we deal with...those emotions, passions, inspirations that are so deep and vivd that we sometimes cannot convey...but you can. Thank you...

This is awesome!... No, seriously, this is amazing. I really like the syntax (I know, weird kind of compliment) but the whole fifth-line thing is really creative. And I love how you kind of released the subject of the poem in pieces... like you didn't say exactly what it was about you kind of revealed it haha and that makes it so much more interesting.
