Look around you, what do you see?
Something, nothing, everything.
Through the dark, there's a light.
Out of reach but just in sight.
Eerie voices, whispers, cries,
Feeding you stories, nonsense and lies.
As you fall into their grasp,
Choking you tighter, making you gasp.
They're all around you, they've always been.
They're in the air, what you're breathing in.
The darkness covers you, a blackened sheet.
And no matter how you struggle, it ends in your defeat.
Gazing out into the nothing, searching for that light,
Which now's not only out of reach but also out of sight.
There's nothing you can do now,
Nothing but give in,
And when you finally catch your breath,
It's them you're breathing in.
