The Perfect Sunset
I remember the first time I laid eyes on a sunset at the ocean
As if it was yesterday
The sun was winding down, the moon was coming up
I hoped for the sky to forever stay this way
I have never seen anything more beautiful
Than that late day in July
The sunset was filled with a perfect mix of pinks and purples
I wished that I could reach for the sky
The smell of salt water filled my nostrils
As I breathed in this perfect scene
The ocean looked as if filled with a million diamonds
The sight was really serene
A breeze passed me and blew my hair
It sent chills up and down my spine
From a distance I could hear sea gulls calling
Tired and beginning to whine
If I close my eyes, I can still see that sunset
I remember it as if it was only yesterday
The sun was leaving through the end of the picture
I hoped for the sky to forever stay this way
