Unspoken Agreement
It’s what we both know
And what we don’t say.
I don’t want you to go
But I’m too shy to say so…
We’ve never said that
We’re exclusive --
It’s an unspoken agreement
’Til we find somethin’ conclusive.
It’s what we both feel --
And maybe we’ll speak.
Although I think it’s real,
I’m silent week after week.
We’ve never said that
We’re exclusive --
It’s an unspoken agreement
Only subconscious intent…
It’s what we both wish for,
Or that’s what I hope.
But if you walk through that door
I’m not sure I could cope.
We’ve never said that
We’re exclusive --
It’s an unspoken agreement
While the words are elusive.
Our friends watch us
Stittin’ together on the grass.
I wonder if they’re waitin’
For us to confess…
We’ve never said that
We’re exclusive --
It’s an unspoken agreement --
But for now I’m content.
Someday I could be yours,
And you could be mine;
If that’s what we want
Then we have the time…
