I Wish
I wish I was still a kid
and I would never grow up, too.
Because to be honest,
growing up is hard to do.
I miss when racist meant you were the fastest kid in school,
and when none of my friends did drugs just to feel cool.
I miss not caring about the way someone looked,
and not teasing someone for opening up a book.
I miss everyone just playing together,
and hanging out with kids of all colors.
I miss the times boys and girls could just be friends,
and no one had to worry about keeping up with the latest trends.
But all girls and boys have to become women and men.
I just wish life could be simple again.
