few words have passed between us
specific to the subject
and yet I know that to you
I am more than an object

our choices stand between us
the past and responsibilities
and yet we don't allow that
to dull our sensibilities

the looks that pass between us
and the brief but intense touches
are a language all their own
even friends know when they watch us

the air is cold between us
seems colder when we meet
and so we sit together
joining knees across the seats

for this thing that is between us
love is too short a word
desire is too general
it's something yet unheard

your poem is really good! the rhythm and rhyme is spectacular and you really filled it in with emotions and senses like feeling the cold.
