The Earth Remembers Her Beginning

I am alone
No one but myself
Standing between
Ground and endless sky

At first, nothing
Nothing at all except
Endless, waving grasses

I watch the sky looming down
A blue bowl spread over the earth

I close my eyes and listen...

At first, nothing; nothing at all
But the sound of my breathing

Wind ever so gently whispering
Whispering mystery in my ears
"This is the way the world was!"

Hearing a noise I open my eyes
Realizing I am never alone here
Time flows past, an endless stream

Buildings stand between earth and sky
No stillness
No silence
Nothing
