insects are guaranteed a certain
measure of freedom in their
hollow limbs and eerie tunes like
little cricket who scratches fully
midnight tunes that crawl in my ears
when I sleep
curl up to stay.

twigs like feathers
paper like wings.

cricket taught me
the words that aren't spoken or
heard but are there

all the same.
