Mutated Love

Her movement never slows,
Only increases
Her pain never quiets,
Never ceases,
She is a slave to a master,
A victim of a genetic disaster
From the woman she was,
To the beast she is
Every movement she makes
Controlled by mutation
Reaching and stretching
In hopes that you'll be clenching
Be holding'
But she's gone into the sickness
The mutation much stronger than love
Her eyes will always be green,
Her heart will always be clean'
Her pain will always be seen
But my mother will never be free

The author's comments:
My mother suffers from Huntington's disease. It's a genetic disease that has caused her to deteriorate in front of me...and she's pending death. The only way I ever confront her illness is through poetry.
