I Am An Addict

Where am I headed?
This free fall to hell.
Where am I headed?
Only time will tell.

What is my purpose?
In this game they call life?
What is my purpose?
I need some insight.

As my life unfolds.
I stand by and watch.
As my life unfolds.
I get tied in a knot.

This speeding plummet.
Has got a strong hold.
This speeding plummet.
My life has gone cold.

Every day that I live.
I get closer to death.
Every day that I live.
Grateful for every breath.

Look on the bright side.
Though we all die sometime.
Look on the bright side.
Heaven, we shall find.

I Am a Mother

Where is he headed?
Who he is, he's forgetting.
Where is he headed?
Many things that I am regretting.

Was it my fault?
That he became this way.
Was it my fault?
I cry every single day.

He made his own choices.
Most of which were wrong.
He made his own choices.
His freedom is completely gone.

These drugs took control.
And they have dragged him down.
These drugs took control.
He is no longer around.

I pray for it to stop.
I don't want him to die.
I pray for it to stop.
I am tired of his lies.

There is no bright side.
He will die sometime.
There is no bright side.
Hell, he will find.

I Am a Drug

I am a life taking drug.
I destroy you from the inside out.
I am a life taking drug.
I produce decision making droughts.

I'm the most selfish thing.
That you will ever discover.
I'm the most selfish thing.
Your personality, I cover.

I take your free will.
Once you start you can't stop.
I take your free will.
I am your one and only thought.

I accomplish my task.
Each and every time.
I accomplish my task.
And take your soul to be mine.

You're out of control?
I couldn't care less.
You're out of control?
I'm proud I cause distress.

I have just won.
All your checks are now void.
I have just won.
Look at the family you've destroyed.

The author's comments:
These are three seperate poems. I Am An Addict is the point of view as an addict. I Am a Mother is the point of view of the addict's mother and how it hurts her. I Am a Drug is the drug itself's point of view. Enjoy!
