You pluck me out of the state I'm in

and drag me through the meditative experience

that I've become addicted to

where my ears are opened to your beautiful words

your instruments

your stories and notes

your emotions, levels, and layers

You force my mind to unhinge

allowing room for what is to come

and put me in touch with myself

by pushing me back to square one:

where I am reminded

of what I love

and the love that I have.

You drop me into imagined faraway lands

and leave me there to feel around

blinded by the unknown

but inspired by the promise of your chord progressions

and your mystical vocal arrangements

You don't explain yourself

and often leave me scratching my head

because it doesn't bother you if you don't make sense

and if you are unpredictable

A chameleon is what you are

changing and shapeshifting

eliciting new reactions and perceptions

with every encounter

You are my therapist

my favorite method of escapism

a drug that doesn't have to be stashed away

and even though you will never know

just how important you are to me

I wanted to thank you

just the same.
