Ode to Music
To live in silence is the greatest sin known to man
and silence is such a dark alternative
to sweet, moving music.
For how empty and soulless would
life be without notes and rhythms to fill in
the dreadful silence that rings in our ears.
The flawless way music flows through air and the
effortless way it touches every soul,
music is a blessing from the gods.
Its subtle yet strong power more heavenly
than anything else on earth.
The words of music inspire people to be greater, to
reach for something more, and to believe in the impossible.
You say music exists only in instruments and voices,
and I say music exists in everything.
It is in every hit, stomp, tap, and pop.
It can be found in the whisper of the wind,
in myriad raindrops, in the laughter of children
and in the rhythmic beating of a heart.
Music connects us all into one,
changing our large world into a very small one.
We are born musicians and stay musicians
till even after our very last breath.
Music may not be strong enough to stop evil,
but it does give us hope.
