untitled
silky and silent
the night falls around her
she notices not the fading light
nor the deepening chill
the wind picks up
whipping her hair into elf-knots
making her eyes stream
new tears fall in the path of old
deeply worn in her young face
he promised he'd come back for her
she believes him still
and though many years have passed
she has aged not a day
time flies past
true love turned to stone
now only the children know her story
they heard her crying it to the wind
and they listened
and remembered
and told the world
so everyone knows
love is truly forever
